i know i have a 96 z34 and that's what i thought it was and what a local auto repair guy thought it was...until he got looking at it....on mine it was the bearing on the AC compressor...hope that helps
AnswerTurning the steering wheel causes more tension on the front of the Power Steering pump and in turn cause more tension on everything else the belt turns, e.g. a/c compressor, alternator, even a bad bearing in the idler and tensioner pulleys.CV joints (constant velocity joints) get them replaced or you're gonna be in trouble real soon. Not very expensive to replace.
could be the rear strut bushings are bad.
bad wheel bearings will do that, usually in the front.
need to get your wheel bearings checked
might be your struts, or more than likely since it happens when you turn it is probably a CV joint
The cause of the whining noise in the front end of a 2004 supercharged Monte Carlo, especially during cold weather, is the idler pulley. This is located at the driver's side of the engine between the alternator and a/c pump.
Maybe a bearing in the compressor
Try putting a new battery in it ,make sure your battery cables are tight, get your car started and go to Auto Zone they will check it for free.
Could be your steering fluid is low? My 1982 GMC pickup truck makes a noise when my steering wheel fluid gets low.
mine needed power steering fluid
the car may be low on power steering fluid
It could be low on power steering fluid. That is a common problem. It makes a sharp whining noise when you turn the steering wheel.
