Q: 1994 Camaro ignition Security light My 1994 Camaro is in San Jose with this problem and they are hoping to figure this out.....they say that the most common problem with this is that there is a wiring problem that has either shorted out/disconnected or the ignition system is just not reading the "chip" in the key itself and it may be in need of repair......I'll find out more today as they, at this moment are "looking at it now"........We'll see! I'll hopefully find out the true answer today and I'll post it here..........also let you you know what it cost me for this answer!!!!!!!! ==Headline== A: The problem with the camaro was that the connector to the ignition switch literally came apart-broke off-whatever....anyway the fix was to solder the wire back to the switch and its now as good as new! with my '96 Grand Prix, I had this happen 3 or 4 times, after a new alternator and battery... i read on here to spray brake cleaner into the ignition itself ie: where the key goes. Make sure it's a cleaner that won't leave a residue. Spray until it runs clear. Make sure to protect the carpet... like use a big rag under the steering column. I took about 5 minutes to run clear with mine. It hasn't not started since. that was in June/July of '08 Now Nov and no problems.
i have a 96 olds achieva and my high beam light was flashing, i checked the headlights and one of my low beam headlights was out. once replaced the flashing stopped.
battery need to be at lease 14 volts to be able to start
Have the battery checked out. It may have a dead cell and not holding a charge,
One possible cause is a defective alternator, Have the charging system checked.
because it is old and it needs a new transmission its flashing a code 31 which is a maf sensor. can it be checked or just replaced.
the vehicle needa a new voltage regulater, this should have been checked before battery and alternator as its the cheapest part to replace
If it is flashing when the truck is locked from the outside with the remote then it is because the alarm is activated (which happens when you press the lock button twice in most vehicles). Othewise there may be some other issue that you should have checked out by a Chevy dealer.
Check your battery post to make sure u have a good connection
It sounds like you have a break in the wire which connects your alternator to your battery, get it checked out.
Fluid leaks, security of battery, straightness of bars, pegs, levers and frame. Lights and signals
have the cables been checked. same happened to my 87 same problem found it was the orgnial cables needed to be replaced.
No, the battery may be defective and the alternator may be just fine or vice versa. Saying that if the alternator was overcharging the battery it may very well have destroyed a good battery. Just have the battery checked at any auto parts store.
