If this person was going to leave their abuser they would have done so by now. The "escape" has to be extremely well planned. The question you asked is a tough one to answer because it depends on what laws there are to protect women in your state, so do this: Type in: Google.com Then type in: What are the laws in the State of ________for abuse against women? You should get plenty of info. If the laws seem to cover a wide variety of options then it's best to go to court, but if the options are scant it's best if this person gets the help from family or friends to get away from this guy. I helped a girlfriend get away from her abusive husband and she flew to a totally different big city and 6 months later he found out where she was.
