If you have an automatic transmission then either the linkage is fouled up or you got a internal problem. That's 100 vrs about 3000 dollars.
he tansmission is gonne and needs to be replaced
because they change the identity of the matter
You need to seek help immediately from a transmission professional. If you continue to drive the car with this problem you may do serious damage to the transmission.
reverse gear going out is a good indication the rest will go out soon. yes you need to change entire transmission, or have your transmissin rebuilt. a mechanic will not just rebuild reverse .it will be complete rebuild or replacement
Change the mlps {aka} the nuetral safety switch or the selector switch on the transmission and that will fix the radio problem and the power steering problem it may have also.
TIME TO GET THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED
Customer had a similar problem with a 99 Windstar. Stopped pulling while driving it. Had it towed to me and I replaced the torque convertor. Problem fixed.
No, but the current one needs to be serviced. The Pathfinder should have computer controlled shift solenoids, so have a dealership/transmission shop diagnose a possible electronic problem with your transmission. I would also a transmission flush followed by a filter change done because the problem could be debris is the line going to the LO-Reverse clutch. If that doesn't work, then the transmission needs to be rebuilt by a professional (if you have never been inside a transmission you cannot do the rebuild yourself). If you cannot afford to have the transmission rebuilt, then you might be able to get a replacement one out of junkyard. I caution you on a junkyard transmission, because they have been exposed to the elements, they have a tendency to fail.
It may be the reverse light switch that need replacing, which is on the transmission.
try to change the netural safety switch that should fix the problem
change your transmission fluid and transmission filter if the problem persists then your transmission is most likely no good.
If it is a transmission problem- First step would be to change trans. fluid and filter If it is a transmission problem- First step would be to change trans. fluid and filter
