It is the key fob battery.
Replacing a battery in a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe is very easy to do. You will just need to take off the battery cables off the battery and put them to the side. Remove the old battery and replace with the new one. Put the cables back on the correct posts.
Bad alternator? May have short, will still charge, but drains the battery when sitting. Just as a test, take one of the battery cables off at night and see if the battery stays charged. Might be bad battery even though new. Hood light that's not shuting off? Brake switch not shutting off? Have you checked the altermator to make sure it's charging 14 amps. May be weak and only charging enough to keep the truck running with nothing left to charge the battery. Out of ideas
try many things, but the only thing that work for my car (03 tahoe) is disconnecting car battery for 5 min. you need to replace the rfa battery first.
You need to check the charging system with a volt meter. It should have 13.9 to 14.2 volts at the battery with engine running.
$60.00 to $80.00

It is in a black plastic box just below the battery. Between the engine and battery.
If the battery light is displayed when the engine is running, you may have a problem with your charging system. The battery display will stay on while the key is in RUN until the engine is started. If the message stays on after the engine is started, it could indicate a problem with the generator drive belt, or some other charging system problem. Driving with this message could drain your battery. If you have to drive a short distance, turn off all accessories such as heater, air, radio, etc. and get it checked right away.
Dead or weak battery?
