No they can't fire you, but you must keep making your doctor's appointments and be sure your doctor writes a note you can leave at the office where you work. If you can't do your job(for example: A back injury) then it's up to the company to find you a job in their company that you can handle.
I suggest you phone the Labor Relations Board and ask them a few questions so you are sure you are on the right track.
