I have a 98 wrangler and am having same problem. I was told by service mgr. at the dealer that it is probably the wiper motor. To buy just the part which now includes a transmission costs just abit over $300 from the dealer. Although they told me rebuilts are available for about $100. Hope this helps.
Could be he wiper motter or the fuse.
We had that problem and brought it in today to get fixed. The problem was the motor overheated.
Problem may be in the wiper motor, some GM cars have a wiper control module that goes bad, there was a recall on them. I don't recall if the Caviliar was one of those or not.
Things can cause this problem. The wiper motor itself or the wiper control module may be bad. Also the switch or bad wiring. It is a process of elimination.
if the wiper motor works when you operate the switch then the switch is doing its job the most likel cause of your problem is the wiper armature came loose and needs to be fixed or somethings hung up you need to take the wiper arm assemblys off pull the cowl off and investigate it if you have anymore problems email me at dbertke@cinci.rr.com
could be the switch the relay the fuse or the motor
If only one wiper is working then you have a linkage problem. There is an arm that runs from one side to the other. It has bushings that wear out. You can also have a stripped spline where the wiper arm hooks up.
The wiper linkage is bad. Or the wiper arm stud bushings (where the arms attach to the cowl) are rotted out.
you havn't taken it to the mechanic yet.
I have fixed several of these. However, you will have to give a little more detail so we know what the actual problem is.
I would ... were this properly dated. As it is, I have no idea if the problem's been fixed ... years ago. Ps. i've had this same problem ... so I have some clues. I hate non-dated posts.
Need to know if you have a single speed or two speed wiper motor.
