I,m assuming this is an automatic "FordOmatic" transmission. The owners manual calls for the old A type, but the new ford F type is all you can get and it works fine. I use it in my 57 tbird. If the transmission is a stick shift use 90 sae gear oil. Jesse Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
The size of the motor does not cause a head gasket to blow.. Its a ford though so its basically every motor they put their name on..

Best Be Very Careful Here. If They Do Not Have The Same Recptical Plug, Which Most Of These Have. It May Not Work At All. They Need To Be The Same Configuration, Because They Are Now Controled Through The Computer. Contact A Parts Give Them The Information And See If There Books Say They Are The Same.

With the sensor plugged in does the engine have problems while driving at normal operating speeds? Is the problem just at idle. Your IAC (idle air control) may be bad. Go to autozone.com to pull up a picture and location of it on your vehicle. You can also unplug this to see if your idle levels out.
