I have just recently been pondering this question. Something I must add is that the science community currently sees the universe as infinite. If that is true, then there is no way that it is expanding because something including all numbers can't get bigger. That is because it already includes the numbers that are bigger. That is why the big bang theory doesn't fit. Also, the big bang theory says that we started out(everything in the world) the size of a dot on a piece of paper. With the infinity thing that would mean we still are the size of a pin comparing us to the implied infinite proportions. I think things might just be moving in space not space expanding.

Are people researching what is beyond the universe by the way materials within the universe are behaving - if the universe is expanding it must be a clue to what is beyond?

There is nothing beyond the universe. The universe contains time and space. Without these, there is no concept of anything beyond.

What after the universe?

There is nothing beyond the universe because we say universe to whole thing/everything.

What is beyond the expanding universe?

The universe contains space and time. "Outside" the universe, there would be no space or time, and without these, nothing can exist.

How deep is the universe?

From our perspective the most distant galaxies we can see in any direction are roughly 20 billion light years away. The precise topology of the universe is not really that of an expanding sphere. There may well be nothing--not even nothing--beyond the "edge" of the universe.

Where is the end of the space If there is no end what is in space?

there is no end to space. Space is nothingness with things in it. beyond nothing is nothing. there is no end to space. Space is nothingness with things in it. beyond nothing is nothing. well actually, i think you may get to the black hole at the end of space. and at the end of the black hole is another universe.

What is beyond the galaxies?

there is just more space no one has seen is before so no one knows what is beyond the galaxies. hmm i think beyond the galaxies there are no spacetime so nothing exist but time doesn't ends so there is no end to space so there might be vacum beyond the galaxies.

Would the laws of physics apply beyond the universe?

there is no "beyond the universe" there just IS the universe the universe has no edge, there is nothing outside or beyond it Some theorists believe there is evidence suggesting that other universes exist, some of them extremely close to our own and folded into other unobservable dimensions. Some of these universes may in a way overlap our own, yet remain completely beyond detection within those other dimensions. It is possible that if these universes exist, there may be other principles of physics that regulate them. These ideas no longer belong to the realm of science fiction alone, and possible ways of indirectly observing the existence of such universes are not beyond reach.
