Because your not going to hell. The people that told you this have not one clue as to what they are talking about. Keep on living and enjoy life to it's VERY fullest no matter how difficult it sometimes seems. You need to realize that YOU were put here for a very special reason.

I have a question for you... Who do you think is worse; The person God made just as he or she is? Or the person who judges Gods perfect creation?

Catholic AnswerDO NOT KILL YOURSELF! Listen, let me try to explain this. First of all, God loves you more than you can possibly imagine. He created you out of nothing; and he created you out of nothing because He loves you and He wants the best for you. God knows everything, He is outside of time, and He is eternal. If you were going to hell for sure, He never would have created you, He created you because He sees the very good possibility that you will answer His call and be with Him in heaven.

Now, follow me on this, because it is very important. Every single person on earth has been born with original sin. That means that every single person that has ever lived, saving Our Blessed Lord, and His Mother, have come into this world with a darkened nature. We were created for the good, and our nature is to choose the good (which is GOD), but are minds are darkened by sin, and we misjudge things, and often choose things which are not good for us.

Stay with me here. God created man with a sexual nature for procreation. We are growing up in a pagan culture that worships things which are actually sins. So not only is our intellect and will darkened by original sin, but our culture is not helping either.

Now, everybody, somewhere along the line, to some extent, has homosexual feelings, these are natural, and are a part of "growing up". Normally, a person who continues to mature, and became a responsible Christian grows out of these feelings, but regardless of growing out of them or not, they are feelings and are not, of themselves, sins. We really don't have much control over our feelings, BUT, we can encourage them or discourage them. In other words, you have the feelings, if you refuse to encourage them and turn to other things, prayer, study, God, etc., you are slowly training yourself to be that kind of person. If, instead, you give in to your feelings, then you encourage them, so to speak, and are starting to constitute yourself as a homosexual. This is where sin enters in. Sin enters when we choose things deliberately. You may have bad feelings, or homosexual feelings, they may be overwhelming - sexual feelings often are, read St. Augustine's Confessions, he had terrible trouble with sexual feelings and refused to convert because of them.

Defining yourself as "gay" is a step in the wrong direction. "Gay" in the modern culture means that you have chosen to live according to your feelings, and not according to your intellect that God gave you. You need to stick very close to the sacraments, you should be going to confession to a priest who is loyal to the Church and willing to help you deal with your feelings. You need to attend Mass as often as possible, to pray daily, and to ask God for the help that you need.

The last is most important, as I said in the beginning, God made you with the express purpose of being with Him forever in Heaven. You have the choice to make to do that, but you have to make that choice every day of your life, in every decision you make, and you are not alone. Every single individual on this planet is facing the same decisions, and most of them, as you were saying in your question, have just given up, and given in to their feelings, they are accepting damnation because it looks easier to them right now, and more fun. It is not, take my word for it, we are talking about eternity here versus a little difficulty for a few years, you need to put things in perspective.
