Hi, I'm glad you've brought this up. The truth is, its not recommended for many reasons, ( But!!!!) actually, you wont see much difference. Never mix refrigerants though. R-22 or its replacement is what you are restricted to. Don't even think of using R410A in your old system. You will get mixed or unrated performance is about it. Be sure your inner coils and fan are clean and in perfect operating condition. I also recommend not mixing brands because of variable wiring reasons that would maybe give you a headache.
