If your 1998 4L jeep wrangler is starting to stall at idle and while driving but never accualy stalls backfire in engine and this only happens every few days what could it be?

I have the same problem, I changed from Catback, still have cracks in exhoust mainifold changing it this week to see if it stops the problem. If not one more check is my fuel tank it is bent under the tank, might be to close to pump. I've been Italy in for the past two yrs so there fuel sucks. In mine the battery was dying. I changed that and it stoped.
