In Illinois is there a grace period when a license plate sticker has to be on the vehicle?

No there is no grace period for the plate sticker. I found this out the hard way. I purchased my city and plate stickers on Friday June 29, 2012. I didn't put them on right away because I kept thinking I'll have them on my vehicle way before July 15th's deadline, no problem. Well today, Tuesday July 3rd I see a ticket on my car. The ticket amount is $60.00. I'm pissed. I immediately went to the internet and could only find the grace period applying to the WINDOW STICKER.
