When I replaced my fuel pump, the gas gauge would only show a 1/4 of a tank when I filled it up, turns out the guys at auto zone sold me the wrong one, so wherever you got yours from, you might want to check to make sure it's the right one, other than that I have no idea
on the bottom of the fuel pump in the tank doesnt need replacing
either the fuel gauge needs replacing or the fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank is stuck
check the plug at the tank to see if its conected good
