I think you misunderstood your history lesson. The colonists ARE British so when they came as colonists so did the things they did came with them. In fact, they did their best to turn the new world into another England. Plants, animals, and insects were introduced to the new world and Fencing was put up like in England. I can guarantee that if you left earth for the moon everything you do now and have now will go with you. People do not leave who or what they are behind.
Most of them came from England.
England is a part of Britain...
yes
Britain is an island, not a language. Most of the people in Britain speak English.
There is no one colony that the English colonists moved to. Only 48% of the population was English.
The main reason that England has become a main language is because of colonization. Great Britain successfully colonized many regions and either taught the native people there the English language or, as in the United States and Australia, the English speaking colonists overtook the nation.
Ever since America revolted against English rule, we have been referred to as colonists!
The colonists objected the dominion of New England because the Governor (Gov. Aros) steered the colonists more toward the Church of England.
It is a proper noun, used to the refer to "the English" (the English people) or to the language English. It is a proper adjective when used to refer to England or Great Britain.
British people and English people are really the same because England (the name most familiar to me) is called by a number of different names; e.g. UK (United Kingdom) , England, Great Britain, Britain, etc.
because they came to the new world for freedom and the English didn't really allow that for them.
People from Scotland are Scottish whilst people from England are English. Both Scotland and England are part of the United Kingdom, or Britain, so they are both British.
