I believe Christmas should be a national holiday because my church says Jesus Christ was born on Christmas. We can honor Albert Einstein or anybody we respect, but Christ's birthday should be celebrated. In elementary school, we used to celebrate Martin Luther King's birthday, or Dr. Suess' birthday (the guy who wrote "Green Eggs and Ham") Well, Jesus can not be compared to those people, no way. Read John 3:16. That explains why he can't be compared to them. Christmas should be a national holiday because you can't ignore Jesus. But if you do, it is your choice, but then He will ignore you.

Answer # 2 Religion should never be allowed to dictate the holidays or laws of any multicultural society. It is absolutely chauvinistic or bigoted for anyone to condescendingly impose their religious dogmas upon others. Religion and religious observances and traditions are the personal choices of individuals and it is a despicable act of fascism for the state to impose such atrocities upon others with differing beliefs. Answer # 3

Yes certainly, within countries that are nominally or historically Christian. The apologetic or even hostile approach that some have to Christian matters belies the simple fact that without their Christian heritage, such countries today would be far worse off than they are now. There simply would be no education, no health system, no civil rights, no human rights, we would still have slavery, we would still have the death penalty for the most minor offences, with the majority of Christian countries doing away with it altogether. All these things were the result of a Christian response to the Law.

In nominally Christian countries, the birth of that very person whose teachings formulated the Law and the spiritual make-up of the people of that country Christmas should be celebrated with thanks and love for evrything that Christianity has meant in the history, culture and beliefs of that country.

In the UK, which is regarded as probably the most tolerent multicultural society in the world, the politically correct have tried, unsuccessfully, to label Christmas as something else - 'Winterval' or some other nonsensical name, in case it 'causes offence' to non-Christians. But even many of the Muslim population of the UK celebrate Christmas in their own way as they adopt the festivities of the country in which they live, and are themselves offended by the politically correct who think they know better than the Islamic people. In elementary schools her, children celebrate Christmas, Ramadan, Passover, Diwali and many other ethnic festivals or seasons. In a multicultural society, where we can love and learn from each other, this is exactly how it should be.

Celebrating the birth, life, and sacrificial death of Jesus Christ as our savior and redeemer is something a true Christian would want to acknowledge and show appreciation for everyday, not just on some randomly chosen or nationally appointed specific date of the year.

However, the Lord's Evening Meal is the only celebration that Jesus' devoted footstep followers were commanded to observe, as that is the day which assured us of forgiveness of our sins and the hope of everlasting life.
