Is David James ad for personal assistant on Craigslist a scam?

I have recently applied for this position on Craigslist and David James quickly responded. After a few personable emails back and forth, he claimed he was in the UK on a summit and wouldn't be in the states for a little while. He went on to add that the position started immediately without him being here and that he needed a few errands ran. Paying $500 a week, I was eager to begin, but...He asked for personal information, such as gender, marital status, address (which he had already from my resume) so he could send a money order or cashiers check. He would need me to purchase some toys for orphan children and mail them off. After googling craigslist scams, this one fit the bill. He's from the UK, not in the states, wants to send a money order, and needs personal information beyond what was provided on my resume. So, I wrote him an email saying:

Hello Mr. James,

When should I expect you to be back in the states? I would prefer to begin working with you once I've met you. This is merely out of precaution to protect myself from craigslist scams. If you could please call me for a more official interview, then I would be grateful to begin working on the list of assignments you have for me. In regards to sending me a money order so soon, I do feel a little suspicious about. I am eager to begin working with you as your assistant, but feel that a few steps must be taken prior to any money transactions. I hope you understand. If you would like to reach me by telephone, then you may call the number provided at your most convenience.

I have yet to receive a response from him. No, I was never harmed by this, but I also didn't allow for it to continue beyond this point. I'd watch out for this one guys and galls.

ok, that was almost word for word what he told me, i was offering he open a pay pal account and he said no its a local check, and i am waiting for a response at this time, what city did you see him post in?

I also got about the same story from the same guy! Except he said he was in Scotland! He said he would pay $400 a week and I would run errands and ship packages for him. DAVID JAMES'S PERSONAL ASSISTANT ON CRAIGSLIST IS A SCAM DO NOT RESPOND DO NOT ACCEPT ANY MONEY FROM THIS PERSON.

I tried to go back on Craigslist to flag him but I can't find the ad anymore. The ad said "Administrative Assistant" We've clearly been misled.
