This engine uses a chain to drive the single cam. Pushrods and rockers operate the valves on each head. There is no timing belt to break.

The serpentine belt only drives the water pump, Power Steering pump, alternator, and air conditioning compressor. If this is a supercharged engine, a separate belt drives the supercharger.
