No. Anything mechanical is subject to failure, and when electronics is added to the mixture, the whole thing becomes a complicated maybe.

Although the cost of a new alternator has you pining right now, the chance of other things just (going out) would be hardly the case. They are having a hard enough time as it is getting new customers, without losing old ones.
