No it is Harmful and can only be described as male genital mutilation. Its origins come from the history of religion and no reputable modern medical fraternity recommends it except under the most dire circumstances.

No major medical association recommends routine infant circumcision.

Circumcision has a number of potential drawbacks. Just like any surgical procedure, circumcision has a risk of adverse events. The most common are prolonged bleeding, pain, and infection following the procedure.

Circumcision removes the foreskin, which works to protect the head of the penis and keep it sensitive. There has been cases of death following circumcision.

Like any major surgery, circumcision has its risks and its benefits.

The benefits of circumcision is preventive medicine. Circumcision can lower the risk of penile cancer, prostate cancer, urinary tract infections, HIV/AIDS, and lower the risk of a female partner to contract HP V, thus cancer, and chlamydiae. It also prevents inflammation and infection of foreskin and glans, and reduces risks of genital herpes.

The risks are less likely in a sterile hospital environment but there have been deaths and approximately 1 in 1 million circumcisions have resulted in the loss of the penis.

Studies show there is approximately 1 complication for every 500 circumcisions.

That is a low chance of complication, but I urge you to read all information about circumcision before making a decision.

Circumcision can also have psychological risks as well.

Answer:We who have worked with Urology know It's completely unnecessary unless you have one that is too tight for instance. Here in Scandinavia and Europe we have no problems and just teach our children how to wash and keep clean and to use Birth Control like a condom. That is the biggest issue when it comes to medical issues mentioned above, not circumcision. Let your child decide fro himself when he is older instead of making the decision for him. Leaving it the way it is is not harmful in any way. as a matter of fact it it better.
Technically, uncut is normal, circumcision is a horrible idea in this day and age You only need it if you're too lazy too wash your penis properly, or teach your son to wash properly, and you lose sexual pleasure, as well as some of the terrible 'Bloopers'.

You know, I'm so glad I'm English and wasn't born in America were some stupid Mum would get me cut just to look like Daddy.

Add to this that fact that circumcision is in fact a form of harmful mutilation that actually can do serious damage to the function of the penis and on the odd occasion kill the child. There is virtually no reason for circumcision.
It is good as it will be clean and no infection can be found as you do not have a foreskin now.

Circumcision is a bad custom and is in fact harmful on both the physical and the psychological levels. there is no connection between the risk of disease and the presense of the foreskin as a mater of fact the foreskin is more likely to protect against disease. many children perish every year as a result of the circumcision custom especialy in the poor and undereducated areas north east Africa and the Middle East. these deaths for starter can be avoided by stopping this custom many problems with the penis can also be avoided by going with the the way nature indeed the penis to be. No child has ever died from not being circumcised but thousands do from being circumcised.

Circumcision has been known to offer virtually complete protection from penile cancer. According to a recent review article in the New England Journal of Medicine, none of the over 1,600 persons studied with this cancer had been circumcised in infancy. In the words of researchers Cochen and McCurdy, the incidence of penile cancer in the U.S. is "essentially zero" among circumcised men.

Also, research at Johns Hopkins University Medical School in Baltimore have shown that circumcised men are six to eight times less likely to become infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Researchers believe that protection is due to the removal of the foreskin, which contains cells that have HIV receptors which scientists suspect are the primary entry point for the HIV virus (Reuters, March 25, 2004).Several studies reported that circumcised boys were between 10 to 39 times less likely to develop urinary tract infections during infancy than uncircumcised boys. In addition, circumcision protects against bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections and a variety of other conditions related to hygiene. The extremely low rate of Cervical cancer in Jewish women (9 to 22 times less than among non-Jewish women) is thought to be related to the practice of circumcision. As a result of studies like these, a number of prestigious medical organizations such as the California Medical Association have recognized the benefits of circumcision. As an operation, circumcision has an extremely small complication rate. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine (1990) reported a complication rate of 0.19 percent when circumcision is performed by a physician. When performed by a trained mohel, the rate falls to 0.13 percent or about 1 in 800. When a complication occurs, it is usually due to the bleeding, which is easily correctable. No other surgical procedure can boast such figures for complication-free operations.

What is partial circumcision?

Partial circumcision removes only part of the foreskin. Partial foreskin may be used to treat phimosis (a tight foreskin) that does not respond to gradual stretching exercises with a corticosteroid cream. Instead of removing the entire foreskin, partial circumcision only removes the tight phimotic ring that prevents the foreskin from being retracted. Many men with phimosis prefer partial circumcision to complete circumcision as it retains most of the foreskin, which functions in several ways to increase pleasure during sexual activity.

Normally no. It will not pay for infant circumcision as that is not a necessary medical procedure. It will not pay for any circumcision done for cosmetic reasons. However, Medicaid will cover circumcision when it is medically necessary, for example when an adult male has phimosis, a chronic constriction of the foreskin that prevents normal functioning of the penis.
