Have you looked under the vehicle? I'd be surprised if the wiring harness wasn't already there and taped up under the vehicle. I'm not certain that the vehicle came factory-equipped with a trailer wiring harness. HOWEVER - if it does exist look CAREFULLY underneath the rear of the CR-V for the wiring to be tucked up and into the rear area somewhere, perhaps underneath the rear bumper housing.

The ground is a large white wire and hook up other wires color to color. Most wiring harnesses are 4 wire but you should have enough for a 6 wire on the truck but only use 4. Under the middle of the rear bumper between the spare tire and the bumper there will be some wiring zip tied to the frame. Cut the zip tie and pull down the wiring. Depending on what type of harness you are using there may be some wires that you will not use. It is also suggested that you disconnect the battery before doing this.
Make sure that the wiring harness is properly grounded. Baring that, there is probably a short in the wiring somewhere. A short means the two wires used in trailer lighting are touching someplace.
