No. True cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka. The cinnamon we use in North America is from the cassia tree and is grown in Asia, Central and South America.
For the most part, cinnamon didn't get to America. What is sold in stores as Cinnamon is actually Cassia instead. There is some true cinnamon grown in Mexico, but Mexico also imports a lot of true cinnamon from Sri Lanka. The cinnamon grown in Mexico is a cultivated crop. The plants would have been imported by someone who thought it a profitable crop to raise.
cinnamon was originally grown in Indonesia and is still grown there today
Chokecherries are native to North America and are still grown there today. I don't know of them being grown outside of North America.

Nope.
To my knowledge you can't plant cinnamon. Cinnamon is a tree bark from South America. I do believe it is South America. I know that everytime I need it I have to purchase the sticks. Sometimes they are expensive I think. Unfortunately we can't plant this stuff. It would be a lot cheaper.
