Detonation of the fuel caused by timing to high and/or low octane fuel. Have someone check the timing and use a higher octane fuel maybe a booster.
Octane rating is the rating given to combustable fuels that shows that fuels resistance to detonation. detonation is also known as knocks. knocks are VERY bad for an engine and efficiencies aswell, because it is simply the fuel going off before it is supposed to (premature combustion). the higher the octane rating (the pump's octane is an average of two different methods of obtaining the octane number) the more resistant the fuel will be to knocking. higher octane fuels WILL NOT increase your fuel economy, if you have observed that such is not the case, then there is another factor that needs to be considered when comparing the high and low octane fuels in your driving regemine.
Autoignition
Of course not. The octane of a fuel has nothing to do with if it eats gaskets or not. Octane just retards pre-detonation in a high compression engine. Use the fuel recommended by the manufacture. You are wasting your money on any higher octane than the engine needs and getting no benefit. This myth just will not die.
If the manual says put in premium fuel, in a turbo car, you MUST put in premium fuel. Your car has a detonation sensor, and it will know when you don't put high octane fuel in because the fuel/air mixture will prematurely detonate. This is VERY bad for your engine, but your computer will sense the detonation and pull back ignition timing to protect itself. This will result in poor performance and poor fuel efficiency-the computer will try to prevent detonation by throwing too much fuel into the cylinder as a means of self defense and by restricting the amount of "boost" the turbo is allowed to make. Turbo cars MUST have high octane fuel unless they are tuned for low octane. Your vehicle's service manual will tell you what fuel to put in. My manual says I must run 91 octane, and in parts of New Mexico, I could only get 90 octane off the highway. My car ran like hell because of it....
No, all later model Harleys run on low octane fuel.
It is possible but very unlikely (see mothballs in gas)It can as-lo destroy the engine as it will make the detonation problem much worse, the benefit may come from removal of carbon deposits.Water injection as alternativeWater injection will not harm your engine over the short term and will also remove carbon deposits.
Fuel for gasoline engines which posesses a low octane rating using the R+M/2 method.
Poor quality fuel. You are actually hearing detonation. The lower the octane, the more explosive the fuel. Higher octane fuel burns more slowly and evenly. Depending on how old your car it, it could also be worn out engine journal bearings. Try better fuel for a starter and see it that helps. If there is also knocking sounds, it is certainly poor fuel.
100 octane. This is why aviation fuel (avgas) is typically called 100LL, which stands for 100 octane, low lead.
accelerator ping is caused by to low aoctane fuel you are using this can be easliy corrected by buying higher octane,or by having a "good: mechanic ,tune your engine to the octane rating you are using
no but not mixing fuel to oil ratio correctly will seize a motor
