Answer:Yes way higher! Both during the operation and when she dies in childbirth because the baby can't come out due to the scarring. It's common both mother and/or child dies in African countries that uses female mutilation. Especially out on the villages where it's done by a old woman who uses old dull razors or pieces of glass. in men we talk about circumcision but for women it's mutilation. They remove parts of big nerves and can often damage the urethra. Se related links below.

It's rare that boys and men dies from it.

Answer:Actually the above is probably untrue. There are not clear statistics which are collected on the number of boys who die of circumcision, since the death is often reported as another cause, such as infection. I can say that it is in the dozens annually by news reports but there are likely many more, perhaps hundreds or thousands that are unreported, often from infection or hemorrhage. In south Africa there are numerous reports every year of boys dying from circumcision due to infection. There have been cases of death reported in the US. (see links). In many cases boys are mutilated under the same unhygene conditions that girls are mutilated under, using dull razors or pieces of glass. In many cases, male circumcision is more serious than some forms of female genital mutilation, such as just the removal of the clitoral hood which removes a small area of tissue than male circumcision. The removal of the clitoral hood does not affect the vagina so it does not effect birth or increase the chance of problems there.

If female circumcision only involved the clitoral hood, less invasive than male circumcision, and was done under sterile hospital conditions, does this make it as acceptable as male circumcision? If it is mutilation to cut the health genitals of a girl, is it mutilation to cut healthy genitals of a boy? If we could find a disease that was prevented by female circumcision should we start strapping down healthy little girls and cutting their genitals just like Americans do to little boys?

Circumcision of boys also has a high complication rate, causing damage to the urethra in boys including meatal stenosis. a 2006 study in the BJU indicates that circumcision cuases up to an 80% loss of sexual sensitivity for men. The fact sexual sensitivity is decreased since the source of pleasure is nerve endings, skin contains nerve endings, when skin is cut off nerve endings are cut off, and therefore it is impossible to cut off skin without reducing sensitivity. Studies by Dr. John Taylor in the BJU indicate that the foreskin is the most sensitive part of the male penis.

The removal of the foreskin also causes a desensitization of the glans as a result of the protective cover from the glans being removed, which causes further sensitivity loss. With constant abrasion, the glans becomes dulled and less pleasure sensitive. The foreskin is there to both provide pleasure sensitivity but also to protect the glans from abrasion and to keep the glans pleasure sensitive as well. The glans is a mucuos membrane, like the inside of the mouth and is meant to be kept covered up most of the time, it has no external skin covering of its own, the foreskin is the skin covering of the glans and is meant to protect the glans. This also keeps the sensitive areas of a man's penis from constantly rubbing on clothing, which can cause irritation.

Answer:No I don't think I'm wrong when it comes to more women dying from circumcision since it also leads to them dying later in life during childbirth since the baby can't come out. There are thousands of girls we never hear of since they are left alone after being cut in the villages and there they bleed to death. And now I'm not talking about the clitoris hood removal. I'm talking about the other forms of female mutilation.

Complications:

Immediate complications can include severe pain, shock, haemorrhage (bleeding), tetanus or sepsis (bacterial infection), urine retention, open sores in the genital region and injury to nearby genital tissue.

Long-term consequences can include:

  • recurrent bladder and urinary tract infections;
  • cysts;
  • infertility;
  • the need for later surgeries. For example, the FGM procedure that seals or narrows a vaginal opening (type 3 above) is surgically changed to allow for sexual intercourse and childbirth, and sometimes stitched close again afterwards;
  • an increased risk of childbirth complications and newborn deaths.

Ppl aren't circumcising little boys because their foreskin can cure diseases as reason #1. They use the umbilical cord for that. What happens to the foreskin after...well does it really matter? It's a piece of skin. Might as well be put to use if they now decided to cut it off. In the US ppl seem to do it because it's considered "clean" or w/e apart from religious and health reasons. Men in Europe (where the majority is not cut) have no problem keeping that area clean so i don't see what the problem is. And the most sensitive part of the penis is the head, not the foreskin. There's also a smaller version of male circumcision where they just cut a small piece of the foreskin.

Why is it okay to circumcise a male but not okay to circumcise a female?

Updated Answer (from Islamic Perspective)Male circumcision is compulsory, per Islam and Jeudaism religions following God commands to Prophet Abraham. Female circumcision is not religion requirement in Islam. In addition, male circumcision does not negatively affect the degree of feeling pleasure during doing sex. However, female circumcision affects negatively and dramatically the degree of feeling pleasure during doing sex.AnswerI think its because male circumcision is less disfiguring than female circumcision, which amounts to genital mutilation. Male circumcision has roots in Judiasm and onward into Islam. Therefore, it is a religious rite for about 20% of the world. In addition, in the USA anti- masturbation forces thought circumcision the answer to excessive self- satisfaction of the male glands. Both female and male circumcision in my eyes are barbaric rituals that are bogus.The majority of the worlds men do not accept circumcision as the foreskin plays an important part of the maintenance and performance of the penis. The reason it is not being looked down upon the degree that it should be is because it is a Jewish tradition and Jews have a large influence over editorial in the mainstream media of the west. They are both genital mutilation though.

What are the different forms that male and female circumcision take?

In male circumcision the foreskin is cut off. Some practitioners also make a point to cut off the frenulum, the very sensitive small band of skin that connects the bottom of the glans to the skin of the penis. Circumcision dramatically reduces the sensitivity of the penis and reduces pleasure during sex. The foreskin also slides up and down the penis allowing the male to masturbate. Removal of the foreskin makes it difficult for the male to masturbate. Male circumicision was introduced into the United Kingdom and the United States in the 19th century as an effort to keep boys from being able to masturbate easily. In female circumcision, the labia minora and the clitoris are usually cut off. As with male circumcision, the procedure removes the parts of the genitals that can provide pleasure during sexual activity and masturbation. In many cultures, the objective of female circumcision is to make sure that the victim is unable to have orgasms or experience sexual pleasure.
