IF YOU LOOK AT THE DOOR WHERE THE THREE SCREWS ARE, IS EVERYTHING STRAIGHT OR IS THE LATCH IN SLIGHTLY? (1/16" WILL MATTER) IF YOU GET IT OUT WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE IT SHOULD CLOSE AND LATCH. (WHEN IT IS IN TOO FAR THE LATCH HITS THE LOOP AND THE DOOR WON'T CLOSE) ALSO CHECK TO SEE IF THE SHEET METAL HAS CRACKED BY THE HINGE, CHECK THE LOWER ONE, THIS WILL NEED TO BE WELDED.

The Prizm has a timing CHAIN, not belt. The timing chain does not get replaced on a scheduled interval. It should never need to be replaced. The serpentine belt, however, does need to be replaced. Inspect the belt for cracks and glazing, and replace. It is not a difficult DIY job. It is easiest to do it from under the car, after removing the splash pan.
The water pump is located on the passenger's side of the vehicle near where the engine belt is located (on a 3.3L engine). It seems to be a little difficult to get to. Have always had someone else replace my water pump don't know how difficult it is to replace.
