The brake caliper boot seal keeps out dust and dirt. If not replaced it can cause the caliper seal to leak and the brakes to possibly fail. It is simple to replace.
yes
The brake pads on a 2007 Volkswagen Passat are replaced by jacking the vehicle up, removing the wheels, and unbolting the calipers. The pads can then be removed from the calipers, the caliper piston compressed, and new pads installed.
Should be replaced every 105,000 miles.
On a 1998 Passat, if you push the piston on the rear caliper in without turning it the caliper is destroyed. You need to buy a special tool to turn the caliper as it is being pushed in. There are some persons on EBAY selling universal brake caliper piston pushing tools on EBAY. If you just push it in, it will not automatically readjust the brakes. You will have very hot rear rotors from the constant rubbing.

How do you replace the side mirror turn signal bulb on a 2008 Passat?
not very difficult at all. i have replaced the entire radiator in my 97. my favorite place to go is to the junkyard...nicest thing about VDubs is the way you can swap parts between models. what you are looking for can most likely come off of any Jetta 93-98 or possibly Passat from the same years.

This is the way to retract the rear Lucas caliper piston: You need to press and clockwise twist the brake piston in the caliper. First I tried with my standard tools but it was to hard so I purchased a special retraction tool f
My 2006 VW Passat has electronic emergency brake. It was already broken down twice. It would not release. The second time they had to replace the caliper and module an this repair cost me $1700. I'm in the market for a new car and will NEVER purchase a car that has an electronic emergency brake design.
