the sensor is not always bad to cause the light to come on. Most of the time the abs sensor gets alot of brake dust, mud, rust, and other forms dirt on them you just need to clean the sensor with a blow gun or brake clean the sensor is usually located by the tire
I have the same problem - I was recommended a brake fluid drain and brake fluid sensor replacement - haven't done it yet, but hopefully it works. Dealer quoted me $190.
I would check switches for faulty sensor on emergency brake...GOOD LUCK
THERE IS A SENSOR ON THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS ITS TIME TO HAVE YOUR BRAKES SERVICED
When anti-lock brake light comes on and goes off, it may be due to a malfunctioning wheel sensor. Another possible cause of this problem is a malfunctioning ignition switch.
try checking your brake fluid level. some of the older vehicles had a sensor that would "alert" the driver of the fluid level. some cars the brake light in the car would remain on until the fluid level is back to optimum. it may have disabled your abs from a lack of fluid
it indicates that it is time to change the pads for the disc brakes, the light comes on when the sensor is activated
Is the brake system low on fluid? If it is, there may be a wheel cylinder leaking.
It's just above the brake pedal, connected to the brake pedal arm. The switch comes out with two screws and the new one plugs in. But before you replace the switch, check the adjustment.
brake light comes on on the dash
The red brake light comes on when the p brake is set, the switch for the p brake is faulty, the brake fluid level is low, or the brake fluid level switch is faulty. If the abs light is also on, you will have codes in the abs computer too for an electrical failure of a sensor or switch..
In your gauge cluster there is a brake light which lights up if the emergency (parking) brake is engaged or if the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder is low ( in your engine compartment) Also there is an ABS brake warning light that comes on if something is wrong with the ABS braking system - fuse , sensor , wiring connection etc. If it's anything more than releasing your parking brake , get it checked by a professional.
That Could be 1 of 2 things, ABS module or ABS wheel sensor. If it comes on when you start moving, it is most likely the ABS wheel sensor. If it does it all the time, most likely ABS module.
