Yes, you can. If you try to hold your bladder...you will probably end up with a UTI (urinary tract infection) or a bladder infection. This is caused by not flushing out your bladder enough. If you do get a bladder infection make sure to drink lots of cranberry juice to make your urine more toxic. DO NOT DRINK POP OR TEA!
If you're in a hospital, the staff usually puts in a catheter. That way you don't have to worry about it and it can't come in contact with the baby.
