How you eat, IE. how many calories and the proportion of carbs, proteins and fats is more important when you're trying to lose FAT than exercise. (I don't like to use the term 'weight' because its ambiguous. You can lose water weight just by reducing your carb intake and you don't want to lose muscle weight.) But increasing your activity level (the gym) certainly fires up your metabolism burning more calories and facilitates FAT loss.

You need to healthy food stay active if you dont go jogging at the gym then run ate home or around the block.

usually yes. You have to be committed though, you cannot expect to work out and lose the weight you also have to watch your eating habbits. Any trainer will tell you that at a gym. With the right excersise you should be fine! With working out i wouldn't recommend just doing cardio (tredmill, running, and bike) because usually with weight loss your losing muscle tissue which causes most people to have loose skin. You have to also build muscle in order to lose weight. With the right amount of muscle you can burn calories without even doing anything. You can go to a gym and they will give you more info

the best way to do this is to get your diet correct. The whole idea of losing weight is to burn more calories than you consume, and if you find the right balance of diet and your daily activities you will begin to see improvement. All without visiting a gym or exercise. Also i highly advise you to stay away from fatty foods.
