No. 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive transmissions are different. The center shaft that runs all the way through the transmission on the 4-wheel drives are longer so the transfur case will fit on the back of the trans. You can tear down both transmissions a change out the center shaft and then it will work.
That would be a 4L60E transmission, That's what it had in it from the factory.
The ONLY 2 years that will work is 96 and 97 4L60E transmission. If it is a 4-wheel drive then it must be a 4-wheel drive transmission. If it is a 2-wheel drive then it must be a 2-wheel drive transmission. 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive transmissions will not interchange.
First place, 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive transmissions will NOT interchange they are different. There is only 2 years that will work in the 96 and that is a 96 and 97 4L60E 4-wheel drive transmission.
NO. From 1993 to 1999 are all the same EXCEPT the 1996 and 1997 They are the only 2 that are different. You really need a 1998 or 1999 4L60E transmission. remember that the 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive transmissions are NOT interchangeable.
It does not matter if it's a 4x4 are 2-wheel drive. 1/2 tons used the 4L60E transmission and the 3/4 tons used the 4L80E in them.
Most came with a "4L60E" trans and I think the GMC designation is M-30 (thats for a 2 wheel drive)
That would be the 4L60E
The only transmission that will fit that truck / year is the 1996 4L60E
Remember this. 2 and 4 wheel drive transmissions are different and will not interchange. Now back to your question. The only transmission that will work in that year is a 1996 or 1997 4L60E because it is a 1/2 ton and the wireing harness and computer is set up for the 4L60E ONLY. The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E in them ONLY.
Yes
No. The Contour is a front-wheel drive car, and the Ranger is rear wheel drive.
