If you're referring to the Italian lira, it was replaced by the euro in 2002.

However a few other countries' currencies also use the name lira, although they're not the same as each other or the former Italian lira. It's the official name in Turkey and the colloquial name in Lebanon and Syria, where the official name is "pound". The etymology is that "lira" is derived from the Latin word libra, which is directly related to the pound weight unit in the old British and current US systems of measurement.

Italy may not use the lira anymore but what country still does?

Lira is an obsolete monetary unit, as Italy is on the Euro system. Obviously coins made under the Lira or lire ( plural) denominations have some collector value. in the case of the l9ll Battleship coins- honoring the fiftieth anniversary of the Royal Italian Navy, these were done in both Silver and Gold and are very rare. The Gold Battleship coin was struck in both 50 and l00 Lire sizes.

What is a Lira in the US worth?

Actually, nothing nowadays. Italy switched to the euro back in 2002 and lira were taken out of circulation. There are a few major banks and other agencies that will redeem obsolete currency but unless you have a large quantity of lira it's probably not worth it. Back in 2002 the lira was worth about 1/10 of a cent so you'd need quite a lot to make it worthwhile.

How much is 100 lira in Italy?

Today, nothing. Italy adopted the euro in 2002 and all lira currency was taken out of circulation that year. If you have old lira coins or bills you might be able to find a bank in a major city where you could exchange them but it would hardly be worth the effort. At the exchange rate in effect at the time, 1000 lira were only worth about 75¢

At the time Italy converted from lira to the euro, the interchange rate was L1,936 = €1.00, so if it were still possible to exchange lira for euros that amount would be worth all of one euro cent.
