Are you asking about desserts or deserts? The difference is one is generally some kind of sweet one typically enjoys after dinner, while the other is a very arid ecosystem. As for desserts, they are universally found throughout the entire US. As far as deserts are concerned it is less about North and South and more about East/West. The answer is West. Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, California, and Utah all have desert ecosystems in them. The reason the deserts tend to form out West is because deserts are often formed because they fall on the leeward side of the mountains. Weather systems will get caught on one side of the mountain producing lush vegetation on one side, while the other remain barren and dry. This forms more so towards Western America because of the Rocky Mountains and the fact that they block the weather systems.
