Is the rear wheel bearing replacement procedure the same on a 2000 Chevy S10 and a 1998 Chevy S10?
Yes it is . The only difference may be drum or disc brakes.
How do you change the front wheel bearings on a 1996 Chevy Beretta Does the procedure require special tools and are the bearings a sealed unit and have to be replaced with the rotor also?
Replacing front wheel bearings on a front-wheel drive vehicle requires a good knowledge of vehicle service. Normally, you do not need special tools, but there is a special procedure for removing and re-torquing an axle spindle nut. Never reuse a spindle nut!!!! The bearing will be a unitized one-piece bearing, and the brake rotor is not part of the bearing. It can be removed after removing the brake caliper.
The wheelbearing on a 2000 Chevy Malibu is part of the hub assembly along with the abs sensor these parts cannot be seviced seperatly and must be purchased and installed as one integrated part.removal and replacement are pretty straight forward.suggest u buy a haynes manul which will cover the procedure step by step and should not take more than hour or two
Jack up the front end and support safely. Assuming this is a 4+4, remove wheel from problem side. Remove axle nut and washer. Remove brake caliper and brake pads. Remove brake caliper bracket. Remove brake rotor. Remove bolts holding wheel bearing assembly to knuckle. Disconnect ABS wheel speed sensor from vehicle harness if equipped. Remove wheel bearing assembly. Reverse procedure to install.
Your best bet is to remove the steering knuckle then take it to your local machine shop as the wheel bearing must be pressed off the hub and the knew one pressed on. Also a front end alignment shoudl be performed afterwards Good Luck Remove the front wheel knuckle Remove the inner wheel bearing oil seal Use Bearing Pulling Attachment to press the wheel hub from the wheel knuckle. Remove the retainer ring from the…
If you take the left front wheel off and the outer casing of the four wheel drive hub and see missing bearings, then it is the wheel bearing. If the bad bearing is in the part that you removed, the hub locker, then it will require replacement. I am wrestling with a bad wheel bearing & hub now myself, on a 93 Tracker 4wd. I need a place to buy parts. I can't find the…
What will happen if you continue to drive a car with a noisy and clicking front hub wheel bearing with abs sensor?
the wheel bearing will wear out. worst scenario, is the whell will fall off causing considerable damage ,maybe even a wreck. can also cause bearing to get hot , and weld bearing race to axle stub, requiring replacement of this hub it is not a big or expensive job to have a wheel bearing replaced. the ABS sensor is not on the bearing and will not need replacing if you replace the bearings
