Examples of websites that provide example sentences are:

  • in-a-sentence.com
  • most of the on-line dictionaries give example sentences with each of their definitions.

Just type in the word you want used in a sentence and example sentences will be provided. Use more than one site to look for examples, each site has good examples and not such good examples. Many words have more than one meaning or can be more than one part of speech, so always check a dictionary to verify which part of speech or which definition you want to use.

You could try communicating with the website that displayed the material in which the word is missing. Reputable websites may offer contact possibilities by email, fax, snail mail or telephone. Or you could try contacting the author of the article. Or you could try finding another copy of article, online or in print. Or you could try locating blogs, forums or message boards that may pertain to the subject of the article in question.
