The compressor should be removed with the bracket that holds it and then removed from the bracket once out of the engine bay. There is a small bracket that mounts on the front underside of the clutch that needs to be removed first (two bolts and one stud) then four bolts and one stud for the main compressor bracket.
You have to remove the air conditioning compressor bolts set the unit aside but do not remove the freeon hose. Then remove the mounting bracket and then you can get to the bypass hose to replace it. Replace mounting bracket and compressor and job is complete
To access the alternator, you have to remove the A/C compressor. First you must remove the alternator belt by removing the adjustment bolt on the alternator. Move the alternator as far down as you can. This will give you access to the lower bolt on the A/C mounting bracket. Remove the A/C belt. You may have to remove the idler pulley to do this. Remove the three bolts (probably Allen head) that mount the A/C compressor bracket to the engine and swing the A/C compressor off to the right side of the engine compartment. Do NOT disconnect the A/C hoses. You should now be able to remove the bolt(s) that hold the alternator in place. Assembly is reverse of disasssembly.
Follow the lower hose to the engine. The thermostat is in the water outlet behind the bracket the AC belt tensioner is mounted. Removing this bracket and the fan shroud makes this an easy job.
To change the compressor on a system containing R-410A you must isolate the compressor then?
No you don't have to change the A/C Compressor.
yes, The dodge daytona carries the same engine, but you may have to swap out your A/C compressor bracket. I had a 92 dodge spirit and switched engines with a dodge daytona but i had to change the bracket so I could use my same a/c compressor that was still in a sealed system. worked fine.
If I change the AC compressor in a car, do I have to change the orifice?
hello, if you can work around it,then it's less work for you. if it comes down to it, you have to, then you have too. It's totally up to you... Partner.. I can't imagine trying to change the timing belt without removing the PS/AC bracket. I would recommend removing the A/C compressor (DON'T DISCONNECT *ANY* HOSES) and disconnecting the PS as well. Taking the pumps off makes it easier to get the bracket out of the way and makes it much easier to get the belt on the aux (oil pump) pully. NOTE that getting the PS pully off requires a special wheel puller (cheep) and a nuts and bolts rig to press it back on the pump.
Disconnect the battery. Loosen the ac bracket bolts. Slide the compressor to allow the belt to come off (if there are other belts in the way then they will have to be removed first.) Replace the belt. Slide the compressor snug but not too tight then tighten the bolts and re-connect the battery.
Simply remove the compressor.
