yes, i talked to the Kia people this morning about a problem i am having with not being able to get out of overdrive and was told that there are 2 speed sensors. one is on top of the transmission and the other is bolted to the right front spindle just above the axle.
There is a vehicle speed sensor (VSS) and 4 ABS wheel speed sensors, one at each wheel.
There is more than one speed sensor on the vehicle. If you have anti-lock brakes there is one at each wheel hub. The one that runs the speedo is at the output shaft housing of the transmission on the passenger's side of the vehicle.
There is more than one O2 sensor on that vehicle. They are all threaded into the exhaust system at various points before and after the catalytic converter.
The speed sensor is located by the driver side transaxle on the transmission. 1- Disconnect the left driveaxle from the side gear shaft 2- Remove the speed sensor retaining bolt 3- Unplug the speed sensor electrical connection 4- Remove the speed sensor This is slightly more complicated than it appears. complete instructions can be found in a Haynes/Chiltons repair manual
The speedometer is driven by the vehicle speed sensor. See "Related Questions" below for more about where to find it, and how to replace one.
It has no governor. Speed is computer controlled. That speed is way more than you will ever need to drive this vehicle.
AnswerYes, that and more. See "Related Questions" below for extensive coverage of replacing the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), including links to photos.
Are you trying to disable the 106 speed limit or change what is called the Vehicle Speed Sensor? If its just switching the VSS, you have to remove the air intake, then it is the plug on top of the Transmission... Check out more info here Http://www.teamzx2.com

Most likely you have a faulty wheel speed sensor or dirty connector. The onboard computer THINKS one or more wheels are running at a different speed.
This is due to a faulty vehicle speed sensor. There are two of these on the car...an input sensor and output sensor. The output speed sensor is connected to the speedometer, and is the one that is causing you trouble. The engine will not shift up because the car's computer does not know how fast you are going without the vehicle speed sensor. It's an easy repair, and the part costs about $20 from any auto parts supply shop. It's probably somewhat more expensive if you purchase it from the Chrysler dealer.
The Vehicle Speed Sensor or VSS is located on the transaxle. it is located on the upper section of the gear, if you look bellow the water pipe were the thermostat is you will find it. See Related Links for more information.
