It's doubtful he's ashamed of you, but he could be ashamed of his family or, he may not want them to know he is living with you (if he is.) Some parents have high morals and he doesn't want to get into discussions about his love life with them. He may just want to keep his private life just that. Also by becoming part of his family at this point he may feel more trapped and more of an obligation to marry you in the future. Parents do expect a lot sometimes. There are many families that are anxious for their sons and daughters to get married and get very fretful if their children remain single too long. There could be many reasons, but I don't think being ashamed of you is one of them. Because you are going together you have a right to at least know so ask him right out and TELL HIM you want an answer to your question. Don't bring up the fact you think he's ashamed of you, but just ask him why it's so hard for him to let you meet his family.
