it is due to the over consumption of carbohydrates, surely he feels that way after eating a big meal such as Pizza or pasta. These are foods that trigger a part of your system that puts you in sleep mode. Have him eat food that is high in fiber. It's hard to digest fiber and keeps you feeling full without the crash.
