on the crank pulley are two sets of lines, which look the same. however, when setting the timing to tdc, utilize the 2nd set of marks as you face the engine and turn the crankshaft (22mm) clockwise until that 2nd set lines up with the "0" mark on the plastic timing cover.
i have a 2001 gs300 and got a estimate of $1,000.00 from a local repair shop--being handy i researched buying one on line for about $300.00 ang replaced it myself--the biggest problem was cutting the flange bolts connecting the conveerter to the extention exhaust pipe
The timing is set by aligning the timing marks on the camshaft pulleys with the crankshaft pulley. The easiest way is to use the markings on the timing belt. Then turn the engine by hand through 2 revolutions to make sure the timing marks line up.
find the marks on the pullys, they should line up with the 01234 marked on the faceplate of the timing belt cover, should show to be on 0 i beleive. use a timing gun
The Lexus SC series is the only convertible model in the Lexus line. It has a Power-Retractable Aluminum-Alloy Roof.
There are 3 timing marks to consider on timing the Mazda r2 just like any engine. crank timing, fuel injection timing and the valve timing. these 3 have markers to align. The crankshaft have timing marks on the pulley pointed by a pointing rod. 4 lines marks the timing. the crankshaft is dead center on the first cylinder whene the pointer is pointed on the center of the foul lines. The injection pump is marked by a line on the pulley and the notch on the plate of the front cover. The camshaft is marked the same way. Be sure that you rotate the pulley clockwise to align these marks to ensure tightness of the timing belt.
The road edge on the right side is marked by a _________ line.
how do you line up timing chain on a 1993 sl1
Lexus
There are actually two of them that you line up with each other. The first is a small pad attached to the timing chain cover near the top on the drivers side. The second is a line on the harmonic balancer. When using a timing light, the line on the balancer will line up with one of the numbered lines on the pad. They are marked at 2 degree increments before and after top dead center. Most 350 Chevy engines have an initial timing of between 4 and 8 degrees before top dead center. Given, timing is to be set with the vacuum advance hose disconnected, and at a specific RPM for each individual engine. When in doubt, look up the specs in the manual.
how do you line up the timing marks 2.3 jtd
The mark is on the pulley below the water pump. It's a minor scratch in the form of a line. I marked mine with white-out to make it more visible.
Lexus's have been consistently rated as some of the most reliable vehicles by Consumer Reports. They're owned by Toyota, so they share a lot of parts and design features with the Toyota line, also known for excellent reliability. Your mileage will obviously vary. My 2001 GS300 just had the engine overheat and die through a sort of freak electrical event which cut the temperature sensors and water pump, at 165,000 miles. 200,000 miles is probably the average on the same engine for a lexus built in the last decade or so.
