CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
The camshaft position sensor is located in the distributor on all 3.9L V-6 and 5.2/5.9L V-8 engines Camshaft Position Sensor
REMOVAL
Distributor removal is not necessary to remove camshaft position sensor
Remove air cleaner assembly.
Disconnect negative cable from battery.
Remove distributor cap from distributor (two screws)
Disconnect camshaft position sensor wiring harness from main engine wiring harness.
Remove distributor rotor from distributor shaft.
Lift the camshaft position sensor assembly from the distributor housing Camshaft Position Sensor
INSTALLATION
Install camshaft position sensor to distributor. Align sensor into notch on distributor housing.
Connect wiring harness.
Install rotor.
Install distributor cap. Tighten mounting screws.
Install air cleaner assembly.
Depends on the engine, old strait 6 in the center of the block passenger side in some inside the distributor since it has a cap and rotor, later versions of the strait 6 with no distributor but coils on plug is just a sensor located where the distributor would be center right side of the engine block, on the 5.2 V-8 in the rear center of the engine inside the distributor, on the later V-6 and 4.7 V-8 on the front right side of the engine cylinder head
Its on the right hand side of the engine at the front just below the rocker cover and it has 3 wire plug going to it it is visible from the top but easier to get out thru the bottom
This sensor is EASILY reached from the top..........Above the oil filter in plain view.
its on the driverside on the back of engin on top of bell housing the pulug is passengerside by the coil plug area to get out you need lots of extensions and go in by rear of tranny good luck they suck
It is on the back side of the engine located behind the alternator and above the oil filter. V6 it is in the distributor 4 cyl it is on the end of the head
The sensor is located on the front, passenger side of the motor just under the alternator and is mounted with a 10mm bolt. Remove the air filter assembly for easy access.
The cam sensor is located under the front of the right front (pass) head.
