The fabric at the loom stage (i.e. Grey cloth) contains yellow and brown impurities, which are partly removed from them by scouring (Boiling under pressure in an alkaline liquor in the presence of a powerful detergent & stain removers). The colour of some of the residual impurities (Which are not removed by the scouring treatment) is destroyed usually by bleaching treatments under controlled condition of pH, Time, Temperature and the Concentration of the bleaching agent, so that hydrolysis (Degradation or Tendering) of the polyester does not take place. Finally for achieving brilliant whitening effect Fluorescent brightener are applied.
Pretreatment is done before washing or cooking. Anything that takes place before either washing or cooking is considered a pretreatment.

Removing a stain depends on the type of stain. Determine if it is dye, protein, tannin, oil, or a combination stain in order to be more efficient. If you do not know, follow the steps below:Remove as much of the stain as you can by blotting the fabric with a clean paper towel or by scraping it off. Do not rub it, because that may spread the stain.Use a commercial pretreatment, which can be found where you buy your detergent and has instructions on the back. Rinse in cool water. If the stain is gone, wash it normally. If the stain is not there, you can repeat the pretreatment, or soak it in cool water before washing it.
yes. else the fabric will become hards as the softener dries out
Some people do add fabric sheets to washing machines to soak up running colors. This does not always work effectively.
just toss in a handful of washing soda.
In my experience, you can just wash the fabric in the washing machine with regular laundry detergent and this will remove the sizing.

I've washed a dress made of cupra fabric in the washing machine on the delicate cycle + cold water and then air dried it. It came out looking fine but I've read that cupra fabric shouldn't be washed in a machine. I guess it's all luck?
