Overheating can be is most commonly caused by either a stuck thermostat or a bad water pump. Insure that the cooling fins on the radiator are clean so that air can pass through.
Maybe two of them were replaced with aftermarket ones at some point in its life.

Your blower motor is getting ready to fail, it is usually gradual. I have replaced 2 on my 200 Kia Sportage and in both cases the low sppeds failed first. This may also require the relay be replaced as when it finally fails it can take the relay out.
i guess the first question is --does the 1998 have the power option on dash. If so then you should be able to just plug them up, but possibly Kia changed the wiring plug between the model years,then you will need a schematic.
Chances are not the temp sensor. It could be a thermostat or a hose that has a leak. And the one you dare not want it to be is a crack head.
