The problem is most likely a bad connection between the starter and the power source or a bad starter itself. Does the car make a clicking noise when you turn the key to the start position? Does the engine try to rotate over or rotate very slowly? Do the headlights/interior lights dim a lot when you try to crank it over?

Check for a bad ground Im guessing that you connected the new CD player power wire to the illumination wire for the old stereo. Find a power wire that has 12v when the ignition is on.
check for blown fuses

If the interior and parking lights are not working on a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder, the first fuses to check would be the interior light fuse. Also check to make sure the light switch is in the right position to allow the interior lights to come on.
Try of anyway until you discover the issue. Nissan will give you an award if you find out.
Try the fuse and then the bulbs.
