My car should get 27 MPG but it is getting only 16 mpg runs great and has low miles. What could be the problem?

Gas mileage ratings are way optimistic. Typically, you should expect average gas mileage to be close to the "city" rating posted by the EPA. These tests are so off that the means of testing is currently being completely revamped. Mileage also depends alot on how you drive, and where. These are sensors that measure the oxygen in the car's exhaust, and help the computer determine how much gas to use. When the sensors go bad, the car will use too much gas.

The biggest problem is in believing the promises of the auto manufacturer. They probably got that mileage once, under ideal circumstances and feel that they can reproduce the condition if they get called into court. BTW, I get 31 with my Saturn. Meaning that I actually GET that mileage on a trip... it's not something that someone promised.
