Put frozen hamburger into a plastic bag and set it in a bowl or on a plate. Put it back into the refrigerator. The difference in temperature between the refrigerator and the frozen meat will cause it to thaw but it will take quite awhile, depending on how much is frozen. I've thawed hamburger in the microwave but it never turns out as "fresh" tasting as when I thaw in the refrigerator. You should allow at least 24 hours in the refrigerator to thaw about 2 pounds of hamburger, and you still may have some frozen spots in the center. Don't worry about that; if you're forming the hamburger, the heat from your hands will finish the defrosting.
