On my 4.0 L OHV engine the top rad hose gets hot when the thermostat opens , and the bottom hose from the radiator returning to the water pump is much cooler because of the heat given off by the air movement through the radiator reducing the temperature of your coolant. Once your engine is warmed up , as long as your temperature gauge works and displays that the engine temperature is in the normal operating range , that's normal.
2 radiator hoses / the top radiator hose comes from the engine thermostat / and the bottom radiator hose returns to the engine water pump
( 2 ) top and bottom radiator hose
Undo the top hose clamp and the bottom hose clamp then twist the hoses off the filter put in the new filter and put the hoses on reclamp and your done
punto sx radiator drainingRadiator has two hoses. One at the top of the radiator,(The top hose) and a hose at the bottom of the radiator (The bottom hose). Wait until the engine is cool. You need to undo the expansion tank screw top (where you top up the radiator)then release the bottom hose clip (use a screw driver)which allows you to pull off the hose from the radiator expansion tank adjoining the radiator. Make sure you have a bowl underneath to catch the water.
There are several hoses on that engine. The largest of them is for the radiator fluid that is used to cool the engine. This hose helps it circulate around the engine block.
It is the hose that carries your oil to the radiator or away from it, to be cooled. Oil gets very hot, and must cool to maintain efficiency. These are the thinner metal hoses running to your radiator into the sides. If your looking at the car from the front, the oil hoses are on the right. The ones on the left are transmission fluid coolant hoses.

With the engine warmed up and running, open the hood, locate both heater hoses (supply and return), feel each heater hose with your hand. If one hose is hot and the other is only warm or cool, you have a plugged heater core. If both hoses are only warm or cool, you have a faulty thermostat. If both hoses are hot, you have a temperature blend door problem (possibly a faulty actuator).
The evaporator hose on a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire is located behind the air compressor. Trace one of the hoses back to a cylinder shaped accumulator. The evaporator hose is connected to the bottom of this cylinder.
2 hoses total, Upper and lower radiator hose. There is also 2 heater hoses, an inlet and outlet hose.
Your top hose of the radiator should go the thermostat housing. The bottom hose should go to the water pump housing.
That would be "Hoses".
