There is a fault line that runs through the western portion of New York state. Including, buffalo/niagara region. This fault line is named the Clarendon-Linden fault line. Although, we do not see steady recordable action from the fault line (like that of the San Andreas in western U.S.) it is considered a moderate seismic risk.
