The 'stop plate' lip goes up and to the right...as if you were sitting in the drivers seat. Bolt it all up loosely. As you snug down the bolts, note that the position (forward and backward) is adjustable. That's why the bolt holes in the plate are oval shaped. Position the plate as close to the middle as you can to start out. Try all the gears and make sure you can get in each of the gears *all the way*. If the adjustment is not correct, it could pop out of gear. Also, under the rear seat is a coupler that hooks the shift rod to the transmission. Those go bad and wear out all the time, so check that connection out while you are mucking around with the shift system as it is a common area for problems related to shifting. Under the rear seat, in the center, is a large oval shaped plate with a Phillips screw. The coupler is under there and should be inspected every year at least.
Need more info. Are you saying that? 1. The vehicle won't go into reverse? 2. The vehicle shifter won't go into reverse? 3. The vehicle shifter won't move into reverse or drive?
Remove the shifter knob. Remove the shifting linkage. Remove the shifter retaining bolt. Reverse the process to install the new shifter.
It may just be a screw came loose underneath your gear shifter. That is what happened to me. Just slide the stuff up to the top of your gear shifter and look underneath. If one of the bolts is udone, just simple put it back on.
That depends in the model and what transaxle it had. Typically it will be by the shifter that you grab to put it into reverse.
transmission shift bolt loose try pushing gear shifter all the way back to park
1) reduce throttle to idle speed 2) move gear shifter to Neutral position 3) move gear shifter to Reverse position.
you have to pull the stereo its located underneath the center console of the shifter.
More than likely - no.
Loosen the shifter cable not on each end of the shifter cable. The shifter cable will come off. Reverse the process to install the new shifter cable.
the reverse light switch is usually mounted on the shifter inside the car.
Did you check the reverse light switch on the shifter ? Could be bad or not contact.
possibly a bad linkage between your shifter and your transmission, if that's not the problem its the reverse gear in your transmission
