Every vehicle manufacturer has their own idea of how the computer should be set up. You'll have to get the owners manual and look up "maintenance light" in the back of the book.
With the engine and ignition off push and hold in the odometer reset button. While holding that button in, turn on the ignition but do not start the engine. After about 5 seconds the light will go off and the maintenance required light will have been reset.
To re-set Toyota Highlander 'maintenance required' dashboard warning light: Turn on the ignition and observe the odometer window. Ensure that it is set on the totalaccumulated mileage of the vehicle (NOT the trip meter). Turn off ignition. With the ignition off - depress the little plastic switch that changes the odometer to the trip meter and then while holding the switch in the depressed position, turn on ignition (it is not necessarry to start the car). Continue holding the swtich down for 5-10 seconds and you will see the odometer window flash back to zero. Release the switch and turn the ignition off, and it will be re-set for another 7,500 miles.
1. Push in and hold the odometer reset button;. 2. While holding in the odometer reset button, insert the key into the ignition and hold for several seconds; 3. Turn key to "on" while still holding in the odometer reset button; 4. Hold in the odometer reset button until all of the warning lights have lit - after about 10 seconds the "maintenance required" light will go off.
Set the odometer reading to total miles and not to trip miles. Now press and hold the odometer reset button in and turn the ignition switch to the on position. (Do not start the engine). After around 5 seconds of holding the reset button in the maintenance required light will go off and be reset. Release the button and turn the ignition off.
Use the button next to your odometer to set your odometer to the total mileage setting and hold it down. (not 'trip' odometer) Turn the ignition to the "acc" setting while holding the button. Do not crank the vehicle. Hold the position for five seconds (you will be able to see it flash dashes then turn to O then the mileage will reappear) then turn the ignition key off. Release the button. The maintenance light will be reset
turn off the ignition. hold in the odometer reset button and turn on the ignition to on (Not start). Keep holding the button in for about 8 seconds and the millage will come back on. Light should be out.

Put the key into the ignition and press the odometer button. While holding down the odometer button, turn the key to the on position. You will see "-----"on the odometer display. It will count down "-----" "----" "---" "- -" "-". Then you will see zeros on the odometer display "000000". You can now release the odometer button. This will reset the maintenance light on your dash!!!!!!
On my 2008 Highlander, I started the engine and set the odometer to trip A. Shut off engine and restart while holding down the odometer button.
While your ignition is own reset your mileage to the total mileage. Turn the ignition off and then back on while holding in the odometer button until the maintenance light flashes several times and resets.
To reset the maintenance light ,make sure you have the odometer displayed.1-Turn the vehicle off2- Push the button that toggles between odometer and trip, and keep holding it down3-Now turn on the ignition, while your still holding the button down4-The display should blink, the maintenance light will go out
With the ignition off press and hold the odometer button (it is on the instrument cluster), turn the ignition on but do not start the car, continue holding down the odo button until the oil light begins and ends flashing. Turn ignition off, start car to make sure it worked.
