Try this... tune in a weak AM station. Have someone "short out" the antenna by touching it while laying a hand on the bodywork sheetmetal. If the station goes away (or "dims out" significantly) then the antenna is good and your radio is likely At Fault. If, however, there is NO change when they touch or release the antenna staff then you do NOT have a good/proper antenna connection to the radio (most likely) or the antenna housing. Verify connection to both ends of the antenna cable . Note, you may have to push the antenna WAY into the radio to get it to connect, make shure it cannot be pushed in any farther no matter how hard you try!
